Lori Thompson to plead Guilty February 1 as part of settlement

A Quincy woman, indicted on eight counts of arson, has decided to take a settlement deal from prosecutors and will plead Guilty early next month.

Lori Thompson made that statement Thursday at a hearing in Adams County Circuit Court. Her lawyer had earlier filed motions to hire an expert, and have the charges heard in two separate trials. Instead, she'll enter a Guilty plea February 1st. Thompson was first indicted last March on five counts of Residential Arson and one count of Aggravated Arson, for allegedly setting fires to three Quincy-area homes in 2016 and 2017, including three at a home on Curved Creek Road. She was indicted again in August on counts of Aggravated Arson and Residential Arson. She’s suspected of starting a fire on the night of July 2nd, at a home on Curved Creek Road, just south of Quincy. Two elderly women were in the home when the fire started, but were able to get out safely.

Thompson's in the Adams County Jail on $5 million bond.
