Maqualla Gholston to be sentenced May 28

One of five Quincy residents, arrested in an August 2018 bust that netted 85 pounds of cannabis, has pleaded Guilty to a lesser charge.

Maqualla Gholston was in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday, where she pleaded Guilty to one count of manufacture and delivery of 2,000 to 5,000 grams of cannabis. That plea was part of a settlement with prosecutors. In return, they dropped a more serious Class X count of Cannabis Trafficking over 5,000 grams. Gholston was among four people indicted on the charge after they were picked up by Quincy police and the West Central Illinois Task Force. A statement from the Task Force says the five were under surveillance as they allegedly obtained the cannabis and brought it across state lines.

Gholston’s free on bond, and will be sentenced May 28th.
