Quincy woman to go on trial this fall in March 2020 shooting

2 years, 8 months ago by Scott Hardy

A Quincy woman, charged with attempted murder after an early March 2020 shooting northwest of Liberty, will go on trial this fall.

Kayla Obert was in Adams County Circuit Court Tuesday, where a November 8th trial date was set for her. A co-defendant, Gabriel Alvord, is serving a 15-year prison sentence, after pleading Guilty to one count of Attempted Murder. Obert faces that count, and a count of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Prosecutors say that the pair were in a vehicle the evening of March 4th, 2020. Alvord admitted that he shot at a man, while he was standing near his car in the area of East 2100th and North 1050th. No one was hurt in the shooting, and police arrested the pair about 30 minutes later on Interstate 172. During the arrest, two firearms were allegedly found in the vehicle, along with shell casings near the home.

Obert's free on $350,000 bond.
