Michelle Steffen waives right to Jury, canceling May 7 trial

A former staff member of the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center, indicted on a Burglary count, will plead Guilty next month in a likely settlement with prosecutors.

Michelle Steffen was in Adams County Circuit Court Thursday for a status hearing, ahead of a May 7th trial. At the hearing, she waived her right to a Jury, which canceled the trial. Steffen was indicted by an Adams County Grand Jury in early March on one count of Residential Burglary, and had pleaded Not Guilty to the charge a day after the indictment. Prosecutors say that Steffen took several items from the room of a 69-year-old female resident of the assisted living facility at the Senior Center. They allege that Steffen entered the woman's room without permission and took the items while the woman wasn't home.

Steffen’s free on bond, and will enter a plea May 11th.
