Rauner calls IL AG Vets Home investigation

On the eve of the third and final Illinois gubernatorial debate tonight in Quincy, Governor Bruce Rauner has defended his administration's handling of the Legionnaires' Disease outbreaks at the Illinois Veterans Home, and called the Attorney General's investigation into the response "a sham". Scott Hardy has more.

Governor Rauner, appearing Thursday morning on WTAD's Mary Griffith Show, says the investigation was a way to distract the media from charges against Democratic opponent J.B. Pritzker that he removed toilets from a Chicago mansion to lower his property tax bill.

Rauner said there is no evidence of criminal activity at the Vets Home, and also said the staff acted immediately during the initial 2015 Legionnaires' outbreak.
