Rauner commits to water system upgrades at Vets Home

Rauner made the commitment Wednesday as he completed his week-long stay at the Home.

In a speech, Rauner said the improvements are part of a four-point plan to prevent further cases of Legionella, which has killed 13 residents since 2015. While talking to reporters after the speech, Rauner said that just how they'll replace the water system still needs to be decided.

Rauner also said the state should consider building a new facility on the campus, or re-model and upgrade current buildings. Rauner also defended his administrations' response to the outbreaks.

Rauner added that he both showered and drank the water during his stay at the home.
