Made request during Budget address Wednesday
Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has called for spending $50 million for improvements to the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
Rauner made the announcement during his Budget address Wednesday in Springfield. In his speech, Rauner revealed that a task force he set up to manage the Home's water system met Tuesday.

Rauner also called for the completion of the new 200-bed Vets Home in Chicago. The call for more money comes two days after the state Department of Public Health revealed that two more Quincy Vets Home residents were recently diagnosed with Legionnaires' Disease. It marks the fourth year in a row that residents have contracted the water-borne disease.
