Damaged by storms in July

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is asking for federal disaster help for five counties that suffered storm damage in July, including Lee and Van Buren.

Reynolds sent a letter Friday asking for a Presidential Disaster Declaration for the five counties, which each suffered damage from tornadoes on July 19th. The Republican governor is asking for funding for Lee and Van Buren counties under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program. That can be used to rebuild damaged infrastructure, including roads, bridges, culverts and other public facilities.

t's estimated the tornadoes caused more than $6 million worth of damage that could be eligible under the Public Assistance program.
