Shopko to close all stores, including Quincy

Shopko to close all stores, including Quincy

5 years, 1 month ago by Scott Hardy

Closing expected by summer; had filed for bankruptcy in January

Another big-box retailer says it is closing all of its' stores later this year, including one in Quincy.

Shopko said Monday that it will close all of its' remaining stores, after it could not find a buyer. That process will start later this week. The company says they're also evaluating options for its optical business. Shopko says it won't go ahead with an auction that it previously contemplated and a liquidation process will be concluded over the next 10 to 12 weeks. The move follows Shopko's January filing for bankruptcy, and the closing of 38 stores. That included stores in Burlington and Fort Madison, Iowa and Memphis, Missouri. All three locations are expected to close by April 15th. Right now, there's no word on when the Quincy store will officially close.

A liquidation sale is set to begin in June.
