Smoke reported at Thrive Tea and Cafe at 11:40 AM

A small fire near the kitchen of a downtown Quincy restaurant caused it to close for the day late Wednesday morning.

Quincy firefighters were called to Thrive Tea and Cafe around 11:40 AM, for a report of smoke in a wall near a food prep area. QFD Deputy Chief Steve Salrin describes what happened when they arrived.

Salrin said that some drywall paper had gotten hot and started smouldering. Thrive's owners reported only minor damage, but said they'd close for the day and planned to re-open Thursday.

Crews were on the scene for about 15 minutes.
