MoDOT blames threat of storms for delay

The Missouri Department of Transportation says the threat of rain over the next few days has delayed the next phase in rebuilding McMasters Avenue in Hannibal.

MoDOT's Northeast Office said Wednesday that due to weather conditions and rain in the forecast, it will delay closing access from McMasters Avenue to Stardust Drive and Pirate Pride Drive to next Monday night at around 8 PM. In a statement, Resident Engineer Martin Lincoln said if there's a break in the weather, "the possibility exists for the closure to occur prior to Monday if contractor schedules allow.” The closure's expected to last through August 6th.

MoDOT says the work won't impact north and south-bound traffic on McMasters Avenue. They add that signs are posted to identify the designated turn around for northbound traffic at the 61/Missouri 168 intersection.
