Stephen Bartlett already serving 23-year Federal sentence

A Shelbina man, already serving a 23-year Federal sentence on child sex crimes, has had similar state charges dropped.

Court records show that Stephen Bartlett was in Shelby County Circuit Court Thursday for a trial setting on charges of statutory rape, statutory sodomy, child molestation and use of a child in a sexual performance. At the hearing, prosecutors dropped those charges, and Bartlett’s attorney dropped motions for a change of venue and a new judge in the case. The charges were alleged to have happened in September 2011.

Bartlett’s already in Federal prison after being convicted on two counts of Production of Child Pornography. Last November, he admitted making a video with a child sometime between 2014 and May 2016.
