Accused of shooting Carlous Wires, Sr. to death in 2015; trial to start Dec 4

A Quincy man, accused of murder in the 2015 shooting death of Carlous Wires, Senior, has had his trial delayed by two months.

Steven Gavin was in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing, ahead of his planned October 10th trial. Court records show that the trial was delayed a month in late August, and after Wednesday's hearing, it's now been delayed to December 4th. Gavin's pleaded Not Guilty to four counts of First Degree Murder and one count of Armed Robbery. Prosecutors say Gavin shot and killed Wires, and then robbed him in his home in the 700 block of North 4th Street in November, 2015, over a disagreement about a drug sale.

Gavin, who's in the Adams County Jail on $5 million bond, will have a pre-trial hearing November 13.
