The charges were in connection with a November, 2015 theft at an apartment on Quincy's northwest side with another man, Edwin Barnstead, who beat and kicked Patrick Forbes during the break-in. Forbes died three weeks later in a St. Louis hospital. Barnstead was sentenced in September to 26 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree murder in August.

Summers will be sentenced May 1st.
