Diesel fuel spill forces closure; one man hurt

A St. Louis man suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 72 in Pike County, Illinois early Tuesday morning that has temporarily closed one west-bound lane.

The Illinois State Police identifies the injured man as 34-year old Chad Ativie, and says the accident happened at 2:15 AM at mile post 35, near Pittsfield. The ISP says that Altivie's truck and tanker was hit from behind by a semi driven by 63-year old Lawrence Rosen of Taylor, Michigan. The wreck forced Altivie's truck off the side of the highway. He was taken to Illini Hospital in Pittsfield with minor injuries.

Some diesel fuel in the truck also spilled in the driver's lane on west bound I-72, and that lane is still closed as of 9:15 AM while cleanup continues.
