Two children dead in Quincy house fire

5 years, 5 months ago by Scott Hardy

Fire reported Friday night on North 8th St.

Two children are dead, as the result of a fire Friday night at a home on Quincy's northwest side.

Quincy fire officials say that the two children died as a result of the fire at a home in the 600 block of North 8th Street. They've been identified by Adams County Coroner John Myers as 8-year old Toby Brewer and 5-year old Emma Kramer. Crews were called to the scene just after 9 PM, after getting a report of the fire which said that residents were possibly trapped inside an upper floor of the home. Firefighters got the children out of the home, but they later died at Blessing Hospital. An autopsy is set for Saturday to determine the cause of death. It's not known if anyone else was in the home when the fire started, which was put out within an hour.

Investigators spent the night trying to find out what caused the fire, and their investigation continues.
