Warren charged in connection with son's death

6 years, 10 months ago by Scott Hardy

A former Quincy woman has been charged in Kansas City, Missouri, in connection with her young son's death earlier this month.

Aushena Warren was arrested Thursday, and has been charged with Felony Abandonment of a Corpse, after her 8 year old son Audrick was found dead in the family's bathtub on June 13th. About an hour before that, Kansas City police say that Aushena jumped from the Bond Bridge into the Missouri River, and was rescued. According to Kansas City television station KCTV, authorities say in their probable cause statement that Warren made no 911 call and didn't try to contact law enforcement or medical personnel about her son's drowning. They add that Warren left a note, saying she was worried about her family's financial situation, and thought that her children would be taken away. She also admitted to police that she suffers from bipolar disorder, and had not been taking her medication.

Warren's in the Platte County Jail on $25,000 cash-only bond. No court date has been set.
