Superintendent since 2016, Webb says he'll step down at end of school year

Quincy Public Schools Superintendent Roy Webb says he's retiring at the end of the current school year.

Webb made the announcement Friday on social media, saying "this has been an amazing job", adding that "Retirement will give me a little time to relax, enjoy my family, and catch my breath." Webb says that the timing of his retirement is up to the Board of Education, and that the process to find his replacement could take much of the school year. He also says he'll stay on the job until his replacement is found. He added that some candidates for the job are current superintendents who won't be available until June, and that there are also "a few excellent internal candidates."

Webb has been Superintendent at QPS since 2016, and was on board when five new elementary schools were built and an addition to Quincy Senior High. That was funded by an $89 million bond issue passed by voters in 2015.
