Guiyou Huang, President of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, to replace Dr. Jack Thomas

Western Illinois University says it's Board will vote next week to approve a successor to Dr. Jack Thomas as the University's next President.

WIU said Wednesday that the Board of Trustees will meet Monday afternoon to vote on the selection of Guiyou Huang as the school's 12th President. Huang is currently president of Edinboro University, in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. The school has 46 hundred students, and is about 20 miles outside of Erie. The WIU board met in closed session earlier this month to interview six candidates, including Huang and current WIU Interim President Martin Abraham.

Huang took the Edinboro job in May, 2019. Recently the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education presented a plan to combine Edinboro with two other universities into one larger university.
