Blessing given OK to continue hospital-from-home program

Blessing given OK to continue hospital-from-home program

9 months, 3 weeks ago by Scott Hardy

Blessing was part of 2-year trial program.

Blessing Health System says it's received Federal approval to continue offering a service that can help treat rural patients without them leaving their home.

Blessing says that after taking part in a two-year study of offering hospital level care in the homes of rural patients, Blessing Hospital now has been approved to continue offering the program. They were one of only three hospitals in the country to take part in the study, which treated 50 patients. The Blessing Hospital from Home program turns 2 years old on Thursday. Blessing says that more people who need in-patient hospital care for a non-behavioral condition can now get that care in the comfort of their home. The research study has ended and Blessing is now one of only 5 hospitals in Illinois, and the only one in the region, with the needed federal approval to offer the program.

Blessing’s Hospital from Home program is available to people whose medical condition and treatment needs qualify for hospital level care in the home, who live in Illinois or Missouri within 60 minutes of Blessing Hospital, and who are covered by Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan. They're the only insurers that are currently paying for this type of care.
