Blessing Hospital President to succeed Maureen Kahn as BHS President/CEO

Brian Canfield will start new job October 6.

Blessing Health System has announced who will succeed out-going President and Chief Executive Officer Maureen Kahn this fall.

Blessing Thursday announced that Brian Canfield will become President and CEO of Blessing Health when Kahn retires on October 6th. Canfield is currently President of Blessing Hospital after joining Blessing Health as Chief Operating Officer in December 2021. Kahn's been in her current position since 2014, and joined Blessing in 2001 as a Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. A statement from Blessing says that some of Kahn's accomplishments during her time in charge include expansion of heart services, including the addition of cardiac electro-physiology; the addition of orthopedics; acquisition of robotics to help surgeons with the latest procedures, and the opening of Moorman Pavilion and the Blessing Surgery Center. Blessing Corporate Services Chairman of the Board Tim Koontz says that quote, "We could not ask for a better leader to follow Maureen Kahn than Brian Canfield.”

Blessing Health System includes Blessing and Illini Community Hospitals, the Hannibal Clinic, several rural health clinics, Blessing-Rieman College of nursing and health sciences, a charitable foundation and Denman Medical. Blessing Health has nearly 4 thousand employees throughout the Tri-State area.
