Blessing President/CEO moves up retirement date

Blessing President/CEO moves up retirement date

11 months, 1 week ago by Scott Hardy

Maureen Kahn will now retire July 1, stay as consultant to new CEO Brian Canfield until October 6

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Blessing Health System says she plans to step down sooner than she first planned to.

Blessing announced Thursday that Maureen Kahn will now retire effective July 1st. A statement says that the move has been approved by Blessing's Board of Trustees. Kahn will serve as what Blessing calls an executive consultant until October 6th. That's when Kahn had first planned to retire. In the statement, Kahn said that when she set her retirement date, she didn't know how long it would take to find her successor. She says that the Board's selection of Blessing Hospital President Brian Canfield to succeed her has made the transition very smooth. She added that the process has gone very well. Kahn says that as an executive consultant, she will be available remotely and virtually during the last three months of the turnover. Kahn leaves Blessing after being with the company for 22 years, including the last eight years as the health system President and CEO.

Canfield joined Blessing in December 2021 as Chief Operating Officer of Blessing Health, and became Blessing Hospital President in August 2022. He came to Blessing after nine years as chief operating officer at First Health of The Carolinas and Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
