Units in several schools weren't able to keep away bitter cold
The Quincy School Board discussed problems with some school heating systems at their monthly meeting Wednesday night.
During the bitter sub zero weather this month, heating units in several schools could not keep up with demand. The classrooms were uncomfortably cold. Because of snow and ice, Quincy schools were not in session during those sub zero days. Maintenance crews were out in the frigid weather trying to fix the problems.
The Board learned that the problem appears to be remedied for now, but school maintenance personnel are on alert to keep the internal temperatures in the classrooms under scrutiny.
