John Wood enrollment up by 8.7%

John Wood Community College isn't the only community college in Illinois that's seen its' enrollment go up.

The Illinois Community College Board said Monday that enrollment at the state's community colleges continues to climb for the second straight year. The annual fall report says that the state's opening enrollment numbers for the Fall semester rose by 5.7%. That's the second largest year to year increase in the last 30 years. The John Wood Community College Board of Trustees learned in September that the school's Fall '23 enrollment rose by 8.7% compared to last Fall. The Community College's enrollment of 1,866 students is the highest in three years.

The report says that, according to statewide enrollment data, 36 community colleges had an increase in enrollment from Fall 2022 to Fall 2023, while just 12 community colleges had a decrease.
