Two QPS schools in targeted category
The Illinois State Board of Education has released this year's annual report card for schools, which shows that two schools in the Quincy Public Schools system are being monitored by the state.
The Board released the report card Monday, which gives rankings to all public schools in the state. The report card says that Quincy Senior High along with Rooney, Iles, Baldwin and Lincoln-Douglas Elementary schools are all commendable. It also says that Quincy Junior High and Denman Elementary are both targeted for improvement. The State Board of Education says that a targeted designation means that one or more student groups performing at or below the “all students” group of the lowest-performing 5 percent of schools. The State Board says that once a school is targeted, it begins a four-year cycle of school improvement. Nearly all other schools in Adams County were commendable. Liberty High School and Seymour Elementary were ranked as exemplary. All Brown County and Beardstown schools were ranked as commendable. All schools in Pike County, Illinois were also ranked as commendable.
Nearly all schools in Hancock County were also ranked as commendable. Warsaw Elementary was ranked as exemplary, while La Harpe Elementary was ranked as targeted.
