Nearly $5 million will be used for runway reconstruction project

More Federal money is going to Quincy Regional Airport's runway re-construction project.

On Tuesday, U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth of Illinois announced that $4.85 million in federal funding has been awarded to Quincy Regional Airport. The money comes from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program, and will be used to support the airport’s runway reconstruction project. Durbin called Quincy Regional a "critical economic engine and transportation link for Western Illinois.” The project will reconstruct Runway 4/22 at Quincy Regional Airport, and remove Runway 18/36.

The project is expected to take three to four years to complete.
