Jaymes Gilbert charged with nine counts of property damage

A New London man has been charged, after he allegedly damaged numerous cars over the weekend in the parking lot of a Hannibal cinema.

Monday, Hannibal police identified the man as 23-year old Jaymes Gilbert, and says he was charged Sunday with nine counts of property damage, including five felony counts. A report says that the charges stem from a Saturday afternoon incident at the B&B Cinema at Main and Broadway. Officers were called to the Cinema after someone said they saw Gilbert damaging their vehicle as they were leaving the cinema. Police say that as they were being called to the scene, Gilbert jumped into a dumpster. They were able to get him to climb out, but then he tried to run away. An officer and an off-duty Missouri State Highway Patrolman were able to catch Gilbert.

He's in the Marion County Jail on $50,000 cash-only bond, and was due in court Monday morning.
