Probable Cause found against Palmyra murder suspect

Raymond Gum may enter plea January 5

Probable cause has been found against a Palmyra man, charged with murder in the early-September death of a Palmyra woman.

That ruling against Raymond Gum came Tuesday at a preliminary hearing in Marion County Associate Court in Palmyra. Gum's charged with counts of 1st Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action. He's also been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. That charge was filed Tuesday before the hearing. Gum's charged in the September 3rd shooting death of Crystal Cooper. Her body was found that morning in a car in the 100 block of East Jefferson in Palmyra. Gum was arrested the next day in Petersburg, Illinois.

He's in the Marion County Jail on $1 million cash-only bond, and could enter a plea January 5th.
