State's Attorney reviewing the case

Quincy police say that a teenage boy is responsible for starting a fire that destroyed a vacant apartment building at 7th and State in Quincy Wednesday night.

The QPD Friday morning said that investigators determined after the fire that it was deliberately set, and that the boy, who lived nearby, was a person of interest. Police say they brought the teen in for questioning, after determining he set the fire. He's been released to his mother, and police say they've sent their reports to the Adams County State's Attorney's Office.

The fire destroyed a vacant three-story apartment building, and caused a two-block section of State Street to be closed until Friday morning. The building's owner says the structure will likely be torn down.
