Jason and Christina Gerding sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in D.C.

Two Quincy residents, who admitted their part in storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6th, 2021, have been sentenced to probation.

Jason and Christina Gerding appeared via video Tuesday at a hearing in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Records show both were sentenced to 24 months' supervised release. Both pleaded Guilty in late January to one misdemeanor count of parading or demonstrating inside the Capitol. As part of a settlement, Federal prosecutors dropped a total of 10 other misdemeanor counts against the Gerdings. They could have faced up to six months in prison, 5 years’ probation and a fine of up to 5 thousand dollars. They will also have to co-operate with the Justice Department in other investigations into the insurrection. A criminal complaint filed in late January 2021 says that Federal authorities received numerous tips about the Gerdings, who posted about their involvement in the insurrection on social media.

The complaint cited two photos the Gerdings posted inside the Capitol, including one with a comment saying quote, "Quincy made it inside".
