Carlos Williams to go on trial this fall

A Quincy man, indicted in the May 2019 death of another Quincy man whose body was found by the side of a road, will be able to hire an expert witness to testify at his trial this fall.

Carlos Williams was in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday for a motion hearing. His defense asked for funds to pay for the expert, which was granted. At Wednesday's hearing, a November 7th trial date was set for Williams. He's pleaded Not Guilty to three counts of 1st Degree Murder in the death of Orlando Smith. Charging documents say that Williams strangled Smith sometime between May 27th and May 30th 2019. Smith's body was found on the 30th on the side of the road in the 200 block of Koch’s Lane in Quincy. Authorities haven't given a possible motive for the killing.

Williams is in the Adams County Jail on $5 million bond.
