Chaunessi Cano admitted trying to shoot at crowd in March 8th incident

A Quincy woman, arrested after a March incident where shots were fired on Quincy's northwest side, has changed her Not Guilty plea.

Chaunessi Cano was in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday, where she changed her plea as part of a settlement with prosecutors. She pleaded Guilty to one count of attempted Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. In return, counts of Aggravated Discharge of a firearm and a felon in possession of a weapon were dropped. Cano was indicted on the counts in late March. She and a 17-year old Quincy boy were arrested March 8th after the incident, which police say happened that afternoon at 11th and Lind. A report says that neighbors told police that a crowd had gathered there before the shooting, in which no one was hurt. Police say they found several shell casings at the scene and were able to get a description of the car carrying the shooter. Cano and the boy were later arrested at her home in the Indian Hills apartment complex, after police served a search warrant.

Cano is in the Adams County Jail on $100,000 bond. She'll be sentenced October 30th.
