Company files lease with Adams County Clerk's office for store at 3701 Broadway
Quincy is getting a Target store.
Target officials confirm they plan to open a store at the former K-Mart building at 37th and Broadway. That's after they filed a lease for the property on Monday with the Adams County Clerk's office. The agreement between Target and landlord GMX Quincy is dated April 28. According to the agreement, the building will be expanded by 7,200 square feet, to around 111,000 square feet. As was hinted at by city officials earlier this year, there will also be other buildings close to Broadway, with a total of 15,000 square feet.
Rumors have been swirling for several months about the possibility that the company would move to Quincy, but both the developer and city officials would not reveal who was taking over the building. That building became vacant in 2018 after K-Mart announced it was closing the store.
