Unemployment down slightly in Quincy, Adams County

Rates fell in March in West-Central IL, NE MO and SE Iowa

The latest figures show that in March, unemployment fell slightly in both Quincy and Adams County.

Figures released Thursday by the Illinois Department of Employment Security show that in Quincy, March's unemployment was 3.1 per cent, down 2 tenths from February. In Adams County, the rate fell a tenth to 3.4 per cent. The rate for the combined Quincy-Hannibal job market in March stayed at 3.3 per cent. Rates fell in every West Central Illinois county, led by the half-percent drop in Hancock, Pike and Schuyler counties. Rates in both Hannibal and Marion County rose by just a tenth in March. The rate for both is now at 3.2 per cent. Rates fell in most counties in Northeast Missouri, but rose in Lewis and Knox Counties.

In Southeast Iowa, March's unemployment rate for Lee County fell by 7 tenths, to 4.3 per cent. That's the biggest monthly decrease in the WTAD listening area.
