Isaiah Mikkelson attacked victims at Hope Lutheran Church in Quincy

Quincy police have released more details about the arrest this week of a Quincy man on multiple child sex abuse counts, saying that he allegedly preyed on victims while serving as a youth pastor.

The QPD said Friday that they started investigating Isaiah Mikkelson, 22, in January, after they were contacted by a parent of a juvenile who said they had been sexually abused Mikkelson, while he was a Youth Director and Pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Quincy. Police say that multiple juveniles were interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center and alleged that Mikkelson abused them at the church. After a warrant was issued in late February, Mikkelson was arrested Tuesday by the QPD and the Adams County Sheriff's Office, at a traffic stop on Illinois 57 south of Quincy. Mikkelson is charged with a total of seven counts. They include two Class X counts of child porn, one count of criminal sexual assault and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Prosecutors say the crimes happened in 2021 and 2022.

Mikkelson's free on $250,000 bond, and will have a preliminary hearing March 20th.
