County Board says they'll meet next Tuesday to approve low bid

The Adams County Board says it will meet in special session next week, likely to approve a bid to build the new Adams County Jail.

Adams County Board President Les Post announced Thursday that the Board will meet next Tuesday night, with the lone agenda item listed as accepting a low bid. It's likely that means the Board's Jail Sub-Committee has reached agreement with a Peoria-based company, Williams Brothers, over the low bid for building the Jail. Williams submitted the low bid of $32.55 million late last month, in a second round of bids. That figure was still $2.5 million higher than what the County wanted to commit to the project. After the County Board met earlier this month, Jail Sub-Committee member Kent Snider was confident the negotiations would be successful.

If the bid's approved, construction on the Jail is expected to start in October.
