Anderson waives preliminary hearing

Anderson waives preliminary hearing

6 years, 11 months ago by Scott Hardy

Charged in attempted robbery last Nov in Hannibal

Probable cause has been found against a 16 year old Hannibal boy, charged in the shooting of a Hannibal man during an attempted robbery.

That ruling against Austin Anderson happened after he waived his preliminary hearing Monday in Marion County Associate Court on one count of attempted robbery. He’s being tried as an adult in connection with the shooting last November of Ronald Gillum, Junior. Court documents say that Anderson, who was 15 at the time, helped plan the attempted robbery and obtained one of the firearms allegedly used. A second defendant, John Newman, shot Gillum after he answered a knock on his door.

Anderson’s in the Marion County Jail, and will be arraigned June 5th. Newman was sentenced to 15 years in prison earlier this month, after pleading Guilty to charges of attempted Robbery, Assault and Armed Criminal Action.
