Both sides say they've signed a "Memorandum of Understanding" to have Blessing run UnityPoint-Keokuk hospital
Blessing Health System and UnityPoint Health say they've reached an agreement to eventually have Blessing operate Keokuk's only hospital.
The two organizations released a statement Tuesday, saying that they've signed what they're calling a Memorandum of Understanding. The non-binding agreement outlines plans to have UnityPoint Health-Keokuk hospital be affiliated with Blessing. The statement says that both Blessing and UnityPoint have been in talks over the agreement for the past several months. The statement says that the two organizations will begin a period of due diligence, with more talks planned. President and Chief Executive Officer of Blessing Health System and Blessing Hospital Maureen Kahn said in the statement, “Patients from the Keokuk area now travel to Blessing for care; we look forward to continuing and hopefully expanding healthcare services locally.”
Both organizations say they intend to reach a final agreement and get the required regulatory approvals within the next few months.
