Chamber Executive Director is first black woman to serve on School Board

The Quincy Public Schools Board of Education has a new member.

The Board, meeting Thursday morning in special session, voted to approve the appointment of LaTonya Brock to the board. She's the Executive Director of the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce. Brock is replacing Mike Troup on the Board. He's now the Mayor of Quincy after winning April's general election. In an e-mail announcing the appointment, QPS Superintendent Roy Webb called Brock a "woman of faith, family, and integrity." Webb also said that Brock "will be the perfect fit on a great team".

Brock is the first black woman to ever serve on the QPS Board.
