Case may also be moved from Marion County

A Hannibal man, charged with murder in a mid-January shooting spree in two Northeast Missouri counties that left a woman dead and two others wounded, will undergo a mental health evaluation.

A motion for that exam of Timothy Brokes was approved by Judge Rachel Bringer Shepard during a hearing Monday in Marion County court. Shepard also approved a motion to suppress a recording made by police between Brokes and his former attorney, Jennifer Richardson. The contents of that conversation, which happened before Brokes was charged, won't be heard by the jury at his trial, set to start next April. A possible change of venue may be also be discussed during a hearing December 19th. Brokes is charged in Marion County with one count of First Degree Murder in the shooting death of Brittany Gauch January 12th. He's also charged in the shooting earlier that night of Gauch's husband, Aaron, as well as in Monroe County in the shooting of Monroe City policeman Travis Pugh January 13th.

Brokes is in the Missouri State Prison in Fulton on just over $2 million bond, and could face the death penalty if convicted on the murder charge.
