Result confirmed Saturday by IDPH
The Illinois Department of Public Health has confirmed that a Pike County resident has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Pike County Health Department revealed Saturday that they're working with state public health officials to further investigate, and say that more information will follow as appropriate. No other information about the resident has been provided. The Health Department says it is encouraging residents to continue following social distancing guidelines and to stay at home. As of 1 P.M. Saturday, the Health Department says they've been notified of one positive test, five negative tests and one other test result is pending.
Also on Saturday, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,453 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, including 33 additional deaths. Overall, IDPH is reporting a total of 10,357 cases, including 243 deaths, in 68 Illinois counties.
