Tracey Ray sentenced to 18 months, will also have to pay back nearly $315,000

Former Center, Missouri clerk Tracey Ray, who's pleaded Guilty to Federal charges for stealing over $300,000 from the city, has been sentenced to serve time behind bars.

Ray was in U.S. District Court in St. Louis Wednesday, where she was sentenced to 18 months in Federal prison. Ray will also have to pay the City of Center nearly $315,000 in restitution. She pleaded Guilty to one count of wire fraud, and one count of federal program theft. Before sentencing, prosecutors dropped two other counts of wire fraud. Ray admitted stealing the money from the city of Center between January 2015 and early July 2019. The Government had said Ray used $206,000 in city money to pay charges on her personal credit card. She was also accused of using over $62,000 in city money to pay for her family's health insurance, life and disability policies.

Ray also faces two counts each of 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action in the July 2, 2019 shooting that slightly wounded former Ralls County Sheriff Gerry Dinwiddie and former Chief Deputy Ronald Haught. She's pleaded Not Guilty in Boone County Circuit Court to those charges and will go on trial November 29. The case is being heard in Boone County on a change of venue from Ralls County.
