Christopher Guzman, 18, accused of stealing truck from LaGrange business

A Lee County man's been arrested on charges that he stole a vehicle off the lot of a LaGrange business Monday.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office identifies the man as 18-year old Christopher Guzman of Fort Madison, and says they were called Monday about a truck that was stolen from the parking lot of Beilstein Camper Sales. The truck's owner tried to chase the vehicle on US 61 but was unable to catch Guzman, who was found later that day by a Palmyra police officer at the Wilco gas station. Lewis County authorities say they also found a Jeep near Beilstein's that had been stolen from Donnelson. In the Jeep, authorities found several items stolen from Canton and Lee County. Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish says his office continues to investigate the matter along with Canton Police, the Lee County Sheriff's Office and Fort Madison Police.

Guzman is charged with one count of stealing a vehicle, and is in the Lewis County Jail on $15,000 cash-only bond. A court date's not yet been set. He's set to be sentenced next month in North Lee County District Court, after pleading Guilty in May to one count of 3rd Degree Burglary. Guzman's also due to go on trial in August in North Lee County on a second count of vehicle burglary.
