Resident is in stable condition

The fourth case of Legionnaires' Disease this year at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy was revealed Tuesday afternoon.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Tuesday afternoon that a positive test result for Legionella came back earlier in the day for the fourth resident in the last two weeks. In a statement, the Department says the resident is in stable condition. The news comes after the IDPH announced that staff from the Centers for Disease Control have been on the Vets Home campus since last Tuesday, when the first three cases were announced. IDPH says the CDC is working with them and the Vets Home to try to identify potential sources of exposure to the bacteria.

Restrictions on water usage were also implemented last week, including residents being limited to showers instead of baths.
