Carlos Williams is accused of murder in May death of Smith

A Quincy man, arrested last week in connection with the May death of a Quincy man, whose body was found by the side of a road, will have his case reviewed by an Adams County Grand Jury.

Carlos Williams was in Adams County Circuit Court Monday for a preliminary hearing. Records show that hearing was delayed, after prosecutors said they planned to present the case to the Grand Jury. That will happen next week, and Williams is due in court again December 11th. He's charged with three counts of 1st Degree Murder in the May death of Orlando Smith. Charging documents say that Williams strangled Smith sometime between May 27th and May 30th. Smith's body was found on the 30th on the side of the road in the 200 block of Koch’s Lane in Quincy. Authorities haven't said what a possible motive for the killing was, but do say that law enforcement were able to make an arrest after numerous interviews, as well as physical evidence found by the Illinois State Police's Crime Lab.

Williams is in the Adams County Jail on $5 million bond.
