Damien Fugate indicted Wednesday; may enter plea May 6

A Hannibal man, charged with involuntary manslaughter after allegedly beating a Texas man in late March at a fast-food restaurant, has been indicted on the charge.

Records show that a Marion County Grand Jury returned an indictment Wednesday against Damien Fugate on one count of involuntary manslaughter. He'll be arraigned in Marion County Circuit Court May 6th. That charge was first filed in late March, in connection with the death of Gregory Stanley. Authorities say Stanley died three days after the fight in Blessing Hospital due to serious injuries he suffered. He had been taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital, before being transferred to Blessing. Hannibal police say the incident happened March 24th at the Hardee's restaurant on US 61 and James Road. A report says that Stanley was verbally abusive to both employees and customers, and that a fight eventually broke out between he and Fugate. Fugate's alleged to have punched Stanley three times in the head, including twice after he was on the ground.

Fugate is free on $10,000 bond.
