Victoria Norell allegedly told police she did it to stay out of residential care facility

A Hannibal woman, accused of attempted 2nd degree murder in a weekend stabbing, allegedly told Hannibal police she did it to stay out of a residential care facility.

In a probable cause statement, Hannibal police say that 29 year old Elizabeth Norrell told them quote, "I started heard voices, and I knew I had no other choice than to kill Zac." Norrell is accused of twice stabbing her boyfriend, 24 year old Zac Meyer Saturday morning, after he had come back from the store. In her statement, Norrell told police quote, "When I would find a knife, the voices would tell me it was not sharp enough." Norrell also said she was afraid that Meyer and three others living in the home in the 400 block of Washington, on Hannibal's south side, would force her to move to a residential care facility.

Norrell is in the Marion County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bond, and will be arraigned Friday on 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, Armed Criminal Action and Domestic Assault.
