Auto club suing Quincy Park District over loss of building

Two days of hearings will be held this March in the case between a Quincy auto club and the Quincy Park District over the former Antique Auto Museum.

At a status hearing Wednesday between the Park District and the Mississippi Valley Historic Auto Club, Judge Jerry Hooker ordered those hearings for March 14th and 15th. The Club is suing the Park District for monetary damages over their claim of the loss of the building. Last fall, the Park District Board voted to tear down the building, after its' structural integrity was found to be not up to code by the city of Quincy's building inspector.

At a hearing last month, a motion by the Park District to reject the Club's request for a jury trial was upheld by Hooker. In late November, Hooker denied motions from the club that would have held up demolition of the former museum in All America Park.
