Adams County State's Attorney's Office says investigation continues

The Adams County State's Attorney's Office has released the identities of those involved in Monday night's shooting at 11th and Jackson.

State's Attorney Gary Farha says that the man fatally shot was 53 year old Rollie Davis, Sr. of Quincy. He was shot by Officer Steve Bangert, a decorated 16-year veteran of the force. In a statement, Farha says that according to investigators with the Illinois State Police, Davis had multiple warrants out for his arrest. He adds that investigators found what Farha describes as "a weapon closely resembling a firearm" at the scene, near Davis's body. Farha also says that a photo of the weapon will be released once the investigation's complete. A preliminary report on the investigation could be released later this week.

Farha also reiterated that Bangert was on paid administrative leave until the investigation's completed.
