John Martineau to be sentenced on Home Invasion conviction Nov 2

A Liberty man, convicted on one count of Home Invasion, has had his request to overturn the verdict denied.

John Martineau was in Adams County Circuit Court Tuesday afternoon for a hearing on a motion filed by his defense to either overturn the verdict, or for a new trial. Court records show Judge Amy Lannerd denied both motions. Martineau was found Guilty in September of one count of Home Invasion with a Deadly Weapon, while a jury found him Not Guilty on one count of Home Invasion with a firearm. The Home Invasion count is a Class X felony, with a sentencing range of 6 to 30 years in prison, and Martineau will have to serve 85% of his sentence. Martineau was convicted of going into a Liberty home in April, and threatening a man in the home with a knife.

Martineau, who remains in the Adams County Jail, will be sentenced November 2nd.
